This was written after several smelly and expensive bouts of ear infections in both members of my Canine family. Ear Infection dog syndrome of the yeast variety was relentless.

…..The uncomfortable feeling I had watching my dogs in discomfort
(just imagine a maddening itch in your ear and now imagine having
paws instead of hands!),

…… the annoyance at having to drive to a vet to give my dogs man
made chemically created drugs at an incredible mark up to how much
it costs to produce.

…..On top of that it merely provided a temporary relief, the
problem wasn’t fixed at a root level.

It kept coming back. Ear infection dog syndrome. (EIDS)

….. I began to think it was all a set up. Think about it, millions
of dog owners, a temporary and expensive drug and no research going
into solving the actual problem? Ironically this is the case in the
Human world too and we’re still buying it!

…..But hey, that’s another topic. Today we’re going to save the
canine world instead…..

Now you know the way things are. If you dog has pointed ears then
they’re less likely to get yeast infections but more likely to get
infections caused by debris, and if he or she has floppy ears then
it’s vice versa. Typical. Some dogs have hairy ears which are very
susceptible to yeast infections. Dogs that swim a lot and lead an
active outdoor life, will be in danger. What’s more the yeast is
ever present in the dogs body and is ready for action on any number
of triggers. Dogs like humans have ups and downs and it’s often the
downs when the yeast monster strikes.

Now if your dog has a yeast infection (Ear Infection Dog Syndrome) it’s going to be pretty
obvious, not only will he or she let you know but the smell will
confirm any doubts. The infection comes on fast. Some vets will
prescribe ear drops others will give you antibiotics. Antibiotics
kill the bad as well as any of the good bacteria reducing your pets
resistance to future attacks. This is not good.

But guess what? The drops your vet gives you as a standard for
ear infection dog syndrome of the yeast kind is actually something
you can make in 20 seconds with the contents of your kitchen?
Seriously. There’s a lot of information out there. The facts about
what kills yeast are very well established. Look, if you want to
read a report on how you can naturally treat your dog at home for
yeast infections click the link below.

If it is a yeast infection go here

Dog Yeast Infection - The Truth About Yeast Infections in Dogs

By D Swain

Just like people, including men, dogs can get a yeast infection. The organism Malassezia pachydermatis is responsible for causing a dog yeast infection. This organism is normally found on your dog’s skin, but certain conditions can allow it to grow out of control and cause yeast infections in dogs.

Causes

One of the most common causes for a dog yeast infection is vaccination. Some vaccines can weaken the dog’s natural immune system. Also medications such as antibiotics and steroids can allow the yeast to grow out of control. Other possible causes include chemicals, poisons, allergies, and bacterial infections.

Symptoms

Yeast infections in dogs can occur in the ears or on the skin. Your dog will frequently shake his head and scratch his ears if the infection is in the ear. If the infection is on the skin, your dog will develop skin lesions. These lesions can be as few as one or two in a small area, or they can cover your dog’s whole body. The sores are typically found beneath the neck, belly, and feet. The lesions will be very itchy causing your dog to scratch at them.

Diagnosis

In order to diagnose a dog yeast infection accurately, it’s best to examine scrapings from one of the skin lesions under a microscope. However, as mentioned earlier, the organism Malassezia pachydermatis is normally present on your dog’s skin. Therefore, this method may sometimes be unreliable. A diagnosis is considered accurate once your dog responds to the treatment for yeast infections in dogs.

Treatment

If the dog yeast infection only covers a small area, it can be treated with a cream applied daily for a few weeks. Shampoos that contain sulfur, benzoyl peroxide, and chlorhexidine will also help relieve symptoms. More severe cases of yeast infections in dogs are usually treated with oral antifungal medications.

As your dog gets older, his risk for developing serious health conditions increases dramatically. As a responsible owner, you may want to learn about some of the common dog illnesses that can affect your dog. So stop by today to read all about conditions such as canine seizures.

Whilst I was looking for new techniques and secrets I came across this very intersting article you ought to read, enjoy

How to Treat Dog Ear Infections?
By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Bruce_Maul]Bruce Maul

The diagnosis of dog ear infections would initially require the collection of a sample ear discharge that is consequently examined under a microscope. This procedure will determine whether the infection is triggered by ear mites, bacteria, yeast or an occurring tumor. If the infection transpires due to a tumor, immediate surgery is necessary to ease related pain. Veterinarians may also prescribe antibiotic or anti-fungal medications to subdue the build up of bacteria and yeast respectively. To prevent the onset of related health issues, the veterinarian may supplement medications with an allergy treatment, among others.

Natural Ear Infection Remedies

The downside to the administration of chemically-synthesized antibacterial or anti-fungal treatments involves the likelihood of resistance by infectious microorganisms, which becomes the cause for the infection’s periodic recurrence. Serving persistent infections with veterinary medicine can impair the chemistry of your pet’s ear in the long run, compromise systemic health and weaken pet immune system as well.

As an alternative treatment, natural remedies are can be used to restore routine ear functions and support the overall health of pets. This is a level of treatment over-the-counter drugs simply could not provide. Below are a few natural ear remedies you can administer to relieve your pet’s condition.

Basic ear cleaning solutions can actually be obtained from your kitchen. Application of olive oil and vinegar on the affected area can naturally restore the chemical balance in your pet’s ears.

Herbal remedies that use Pau d’ Arco as primary ingredient convey powerful antibiotic and antifungal properties.

Other herbals such as Marigold and Rosemary are regarded as natural antiseptics and the extracts of these herbs are often utilized in ear remedies given the reputation to clear out infections without producing side-effects.

The herb Mullein is also integrated into medicinal formulas in line with its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties that effectively support systemic healing.

If you require an all-natural remedy producing multiple benefits in a single formulation, the standardized pet herbal supplement [http://www.myherbalremedystore.com/pedr001.html]PetAlive Ear Dr contains therapeutic herbs that effectively promote ear health in pets. Its natural healing properties are formulated to the highest pharmaceutical standards in cleansing out ear infections, all the more preventing them from coming back.

In the end, proper nutrition, hygiene and herbal support are essential to the upkeep of unfailing pet health, particularly in reinforcing their immune defenses against infections.

One of the first things that hit me about owning dogs was the expense and the sheer terror when something goes wrong. Though you hope your dog understands your every word there is little we can do, that we understand, that can help the dog.

Both my dogs, and I think this is the same for most, suffered from terrible dog infections of the ear. It cost the dogs a lot of pain and discomfort and it cost me a lot of time and money. Don’t get me wrong, I’m happy to spend whatever is necessary for my dogs but when you see the terror in their faces when they go to the vets, it’s real easy to question it!

I decided to look for natural and holistic cures after one of my dogs got quite ill through the antibiotics prescribed to him. To cut a long story short I befriended a vet and asked him what he thought. Well to say my eyes were opened was an understatement. The very ear drops I was sold by my vet could be made in my kitchen and there were a whole bunch of home remedies he recommended that are natural and far more effective than antibiotics-not to mention far less damaging to our pets.

To this day both my dogs have gone from 4-5 yeast infections a year to 0 in the last two years. My methods also show you what to do when they DON’T have a yeast infection to prevent it coming on in the first place.

It’s not just yeast infections either. I have found these similar cures for a whole load of different ailments and the results are still the same.

Sadly last year my friends dog was hit by a car and was knocked unconscious. When my friend got to him he had no idea how to resuscitate a dog or massage his heart and as a result (and I never told him this) his dog died. Think about it. There was no ambulance or ambulance driver, he was that person and he panicked and worried over how to revive the poor dog. By the time the shock of not knowing what to do had passed and he jumped in the car with the dog, it was too late. I’m so sorry for bringing the harsh realty of this home but it’s deadly important. If your dog is hurt often time YOU are the vet, the ambulance driver and everyone else until you get the dog to the vet. Dogs hurt in accidents survive far less than humans for this reason only.

I therefore decided to find the information I needed to be “qualified” in this sort of situation. This is vitally important information for ALL dog owners.

Dog Yeast Infection
By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Peter_Gitundu]Peter Gitundu

Many pet owners have wondered about the constant itching on their dogs and they wish they can do something about it. You do not have to wonder anymore because your dog might be suffering from yeast infection. Yeast is very much present in dogs and the kind that causes dog yeast infection is called malasezzia pachydermatis. The most common areas that you are likely to find an infection is in the ears and skin. The organism that causes the infection was discovered not less than 10 years ago and people are more aware when their dogs start to experience symptoms.

Some of the most common dog yeast infection symptoms that you need to look out for are constant itching of the ears, lesions on the skin, hair loss on the affected area, soreness and a certain odor from the affected areas. There are several things that can cause the development if malasezzia and the most common are allergies to food, pollen, fleas and others. This is because they disrupt the normal formation and function of sebum. Also, if your dog has an under active thyroid gland they are likely to suffer from the infection. If your dog has had treatment using antibiotics, there is a big likelihood that they might suffer from it.

When your dog has the infection, the veterinarian will have to treat the underlying problems if there are any like thyroid problems and allergies. There is anti fungal treatment for the problem in dogs and some of the cures include ketaconazole, fluconazole and others. The oral treatment will ensure that your dog recovers quick and all you have to do is to follow every instruction that will be recommended by the pet doctor. There are very many things you can do to make sure that you keep your dog free from the infection. The first thing will be to keep in mind that the fungus thrives and multiplies in warm and moist areas.

Therefore, keep your dog dry and clean at all times to avoid dog yeast infection. Also make sure you feed your dog with the right nutrients because pet infection can also be caused by a weakened immune system. You need to identify key areas and pay specific attention to them. This includes the ears and the rare end area. You will find many helpful tips on home remedies to treat it and one example will require the following products boric acid, rubbing alcohol and glycerin. You are required to rub the remedy on the affected area so that future infections can be prevented. There is no doubt that when you have the necessary information, you will keep your beloved four legged friend happy at all times.
